The Italian Serie A club AS Roma have confirmed that Brazilian forward Leandro Damião has left the team after being released by coach Eusebio Di Francesco.
According to reports in Italy, Damião was not included in the Roma squad for their match against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, and he is expected to leave the club soon.
Roma's sporting director, Zinedine Zidane, said: "We would like to thank Leandro for his contribution during his time with us. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors."
Damião joined Roma from Flamengo in 2018, but struggled to establish himself as a regular starter under Di Francesco. He made just five appearances in all competitions this season before being released.
The 27-year-old had previously played for Inter Milan and Sampdoria before joining Roma, where he scored nine goals in 44 games across all competitions.
