Alexandre Lacazette is one of the most accomplished strikers in French football history, having won numerous caps for his country and helped lead them to the final of the Euro 2016 tournament. However, he has never managed to make it past the first round of European competitions with Arsenal, despite being a regular starter in their squad.
In January 2019, Lacazette finally made the move away from Arsenal, signing a five-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). However, the move to Barcelona seemed like a major step forward for him, with Barcelona known for their attacking style of play and the chance to play alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar.
Lacazette signed a four-year contract with Barcelona in August 2020, but he struggled to find his form immediately. Despite scoring nine goals in 37 appearances for Barca, he failed to help the team reach the Champions League quarter-finals and ended up leaving the club at the end of the season after only two years.
The move to Barcelona was a major step forward for Lacazette, but it ultimately proved to be too little too late. He left the club with a reputation as a talented striker who could not quite deliver on the big stage, and he will now look to continue his career elsewhere.
