Edmilson, the Brazilian striker who has been a key player for the Chinese Super League (CSL) team, Shanghai Shenhua, has signed a new contract to remain at the club until 2018.
The news was announced on Wednesday by Shanghai Shenhua, which said that Edmilson had agreed to extend his current deal, which expires in June next year, until June 2018.
The 35-year-old striker has been a regular fixture in the CSL's top flight since joining the club in 2014, scoring over 100 goals in 177 appearances.
He is known for his strong work rate and his ability to score from all positions on the pitch, making him a valuable asset to any team.
"Edmilson is a true professional and a great player," said Shanghai Shenhua coach Guan Xiaobin. "We're very happy to have him back with us for another two years."
Edmilson's return will be welcomed by fans of the CSL, who have long admired his talent and dedication to the sport.
"I'm really excited to be able to continue playing for Shanghai Shenhua," he said. "I've enjoyed my time here so far and I can't wait to see what the future holds."
The signing of Edmilson is just one of several high-profile arrivals at Shanghai Shenhua this season, with the club also announcing the signings of Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuain and Colombian midfielder Juan Cuadrado.
As the CSL enters its final few months before the start of the 2018 season, it looks like there will be plenty of exciting football ahead. With players such as Edmilson, Higuain and Cuadrado already committed to the club, there's no doubt that Shanghai Shenhua will be a force to be reckoned with in the coming weeks and months.
